By Public Transport:
- From Amsterdam:
- Sloterdijk Station - Board bus line 82 to IJmuiden. Exit at the “Planetenweg” bus stop. Walk in a north-westerly direction towards Linneusstraat-Havenkade. Upon arriving at Dokweg, IMARES is located directly across the road.
- Central Station – At the rear of the station, you will find Fast Flying Ferry, which will bring you to the “Pontplein” in Velsen-Zuid in 30 minutes. Upon departing the ferry, transfer to bus line 74 (direction IJmuiden) and exit at the “Vissershaven/KNRM” bus stop. You will immediately see IMARES.
- From Haarlem:
- Haarlem Station - Board bus line 75 to IJmuiden and depart at the “Planetenweg” bus stop. Walk in a north-westerly direction along Linnaeusstraat. You will arrive at Dokweg and IMARES is located directly across the road.
- From Alkmaar:
- Beverwijk Station - Board bus line 74 to IJmuiden. After approximately 22 minutes, depart at the “Vissershaven/KNRM” bus stop. You will immediately see IMARES.
By Car:
- From Amsterdam (via Rottepolderplein):
Follow the A9 motorway and take Velsen exit to the A22 (Velsen/Ijmuiden). Before reaching the Velsen Tunnel, exit right to IJmuiden. Turn left at the first traffic signals and go straight on by the following traffic signals.
- From Amsterdam (via the road along the North Sea Canal):
As you approach Velsen, go straight on at the first two traffic signals.
- From Alkmaar:
Following the A9 motorway take the Beverwijk exit to the A22 (Velsen/IJmuiden). After travelling through the Velsen Tunnel, keep right towards the Haarlem/Velsen exit and then immediately take the Velsen/Ijmuiden exit. At the crossroads, take a right and turn left at the first traffic signal.
- From Haarlem:
Follow the A208. Immediately before the Velsen Tunnel, take the Velsen/Ijmuiden exit. Turn left at the traffic signals and go straight on by the following traffic signals.
At the next set of traffic signals, take a right (do not take the sharp right to the ferry but the right immediately after the ferry). Continue along this road (with the Canal to your right) until you reach the second round-about. Take the first right at the second round-about and you are now on the Haringkade. The first building immediately located to your left is IMARES.
