IMARES conducts aquaculture production system evaluations and audits, for different stakeholders, such as
investors, system constructors, banks, governments and others. These evaluations and audits are often requested in relation to the feasibility of the overall project.
IMARES focuses as independent partner on the biological and technological aspects of the project. Using bio-economical models and the expertise of partners inside Wageningen UR (e.g. the economical institute) as the economical feasibility of the proposed projects is evaluated.
IMARES follows in these audits international standards, such as UNIDO of the FAO. As audits are often the second step in the project development, IMARES has been as involved in feasibility studies and fact findings for different cultures of finfish, shellfish and shrimps worldwide.
