For many years, IMARES has been monitoring bottom-living (benthic) animals and shellfish.
This concerns mussels and cockles in the Wadden Sea and Zeeland and spisula and common razorfish in the North Sea coastal zone and the Delta.
This information is important not only for policy and the fishery, but also for nature conservation.
For effects studies, samples are taken at a detailed scale, such as the studies conducted for Maasvlakte 2.
